Sample itinerary
DAY 1: THURSDAY MAY 26TH
Today fly from Los Angeles to Melbourne (LAX/ MEL)
DAY 2: SATURDAY MAY 28TH
(May 27th lost crossing the International Dateline) Arrive in Melbourne this morning where we are greeted by our Harvard Sports Tour Manager and transferred by motor coach to our apartment style accommodation. In the afternoon there will be a light training session.
DAY 3: SUNDAY MAY 29TH
After breakfast, we have a training session. Around noon-time, you will have the opportunity to experience the historical Queen Victoria Market, Melbourne’s original market. In the afternoon we have time to explore Melbourne with the Great Aussie Challenge. This friendly competition will test your wits, stamina, and teamwork skills, while learning about life Down Under.
DAY 4: MONDAY MAY 30TH
After breakfast, we have a training session. We continue the Great Aussie Challenge in the afternoon before our pre-game meal. In the evening we play Soccer Match #1 vs. Melbourne Team 1
DAY 5: TUESDAY MAY 31ST
We depart early this Morning for a day tour along the famous Great Ocean Road, described as one of the world’s most Impressive coastline drives. During our journey we stop in Torquay, a famous surfing town where the surfing industry was born. We continue along the Great Ocean Road to the beachside resort town of Lorne and then onto lunch in Apollo Bay. Later on in the evening, we play Soccer Match #2 vs. Melbourne Team 2.
DAY 6: WEDNESDAY JUNE 1ST
In the morning, we transfer by motor coach to Melbourne Air-port for our flight to Brisbane. Upon arrival in Brisbane, we transfer to our apartment style accommodations on the Gold Coast. We have a training session in the afternoon, followed by a free night out.
DAY 7: THURSDAY JUNE 2ND
In the morning we visit the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to over 1400 Australian mammals, birds & reptiles. In the afternoon we have part 3 of the Great Aussie Challenge, which includes “The Aussie Ironman”, where you’ll earn valuable points for your team during these crazy & fun beach activities. In the afternoon we have our pre-game meal before our evening Soccer Match #3 vs. Gold Coast Team 1.
DAY 8: FRIDAY JUNE 3RD
In the morning we travel to the beach where Professional Surf Coaches will be teaching you how to surf. They will provide you with a surfboard and wetsuit and will teach you step-by-step how to catch a wave and stand up on a surfboard! In the afternoon we have our pre-game meal before we play Soccer Match #4 vs. Gold Coast Team 2.
DAY 9: SATURDAY JUNE 4TH
Today we have a free day to enjoy the Gold Coast. You may use this time to go on a guided tour, do some shopping, or just relax on the beach. Breakfast and dinner will be provided today.
DAY 10: SUNDAY JUNE 5TH
In the morning, we transfer to Brisbane airport for our flight to Cairns. On arrival, we transfer to our accommodations and settle in. Free time to explore the tropical city of Cairns.
DAY 11: MONDAY JUNE 6TH
Free day to enjoy an activity of your choice. Cairns is famous worldwide as the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. We recommend that you experience a day boat trip out to the Outer Great Barrier Reef, where you can snorkel or scuba dive over the beautiful coral reef. In the evening, we have our Farewell Presentation Dinner at a Cairns restaurant. Harvard Sports awards will be presented to participants.
DAY 12: TUESDAY JUNE 7TH
After breakfast, we say farewell before our trip
to the airport and flight back to the USA
